Dark Water is a major project that has been under development by collaborating artists Erin Coates and Anna Nazzari for the past three years. The central work is a short film, which is currently in post-production.

Dark Water explores the narrative of a deep-sea environment that unexpectedly manifests in the walls of a grieving woman’s suburban dwelling; an impossible, flooded inner-architecture. This darkly surreal short film is underscored by both a sense of human loss and contemporary concerns around habitat loss within our oceans. The film will be accompanied by a sculptural installation, works of scrimshaw and a new suite of drawings. Dark Water will premier in a solo exhibition at Linden New Art in Melbourne in May 2019, and then elements of the project will be shown in an exhibition at Turner Galleries in Perth in September 2019.
