Internal Interior

Internal Interior was created for Dark water, a major collaborative project by Erin Coates and Anna Nazzari featuring drawings, sculptural objects and a central short film work. Dark Water examines psychological thresholds and the limits of the human body in relation to oceanic environments. This interconnected body of work draws on the artists’ research into marine flora and fauna and the experiences of deep-sea divers, to explore familial trauma and the dissolution of the human psyche in a strange waterlogged architectural space. Dark Water was shown in the 2020 Adelaide Biennial: Monster Theatres at the Art Gallery of South Australia and Dark Water at Linden New Art in Melbourne. It was supported by the Australia Council for the Arts and the Western Australian Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
